Short Bio

Village Enterprise is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and partnerships. With a focus on the ultra-poor, we equip first-time entrepreneurs, especially women and youth, with seed capital, business training, mentoring, and financial inclusion. We work closely with governments and NGOs to scale our proven poverty graduation model and embed it within national systems

Highlighted projects

  • Kenya Social and Economic Inclusion and Graduation Strategy (Kenya) Supported the Government of Kenya to implement the Kenya Social Economic Inclusion Project and to develop a national Ultra-Poor Graduation Strategy outlining how poverty graduation should be implemented across the country. At the county level, partnered with Makueni, Taita Taveta, and West Pokot to draft ultra-poverty graduation legislative bills and establish Graduation Management Information Systems (MIS) to enable effective program delivery and budgetary allocation.

  • Scaling Graduation Programming (Rwanda) Collaborated with the Government of Rwanda to scale national poverty graduation efforts. Provided technical support to inform program design and implementation strategies aimed at sustainably lifting households out of extreme poverty.
