eGov Foundation (eGov) is a 22-year-old nonprofit that helps countries establish and manage their Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for the effective delivery of public services at scale. Our work is underpinned by DIGIT, an open-source and interoperable sectoral DPI, offering solutions for citizens, public administrators, policymakers, and commercial players. DIGIT’s building blocks have been reused, repurposed, and extended to build sectoral DPIs in Local Governance, Water and Sanitation, Social Benefits, Public Health, Agriculture, PFM, Education, and Justice. Currently, there are DIGIT deployments in 12 countries and over 1.5bn people are benefiting from the collective work of our ecosystem of partners. In addition, eGov has a robust focus on building government and market capacity to implement Digital Public Infrastructure. We provide strategic, advisory and capacity support to governments to adopt DPI for improved services to citizens; and catalyse market ecosystem to deploy and build on DIGIT.
National Digital Strategy for Urban Innovation in India: eGov partnered with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to co-create India’s national digital strategy for urban innovation, now being rolled out through the National Urban Digital Mission. The Government of India has committed USD 700 million to support digital transformation across 4700+ cities. eGov played a strategic role in designing the Mission’s strategy, digital blueprints, institutional structures, and providing technical support. The initiative is built on the DIGIT platform.
Statewide Urban Digital Transformation in Odisha: In partnership with the Government of Odisha, eGov rolled out DIGIT as SUJOG Urban to improve service delivery across all 115 cities in the state. DIGIT’s modular, interoperable architecture enabled integration across departments and services. Since 2019, it has supported use cases such as fecal sludge and septage management, urban livelihoods, and sanitation worker welfare—reaching over 2 million citizens and facilitating more than 1.5 million digital transactions.
Digital Health Campaign Management Across Six Countries: eGov led the development of the DIGIT-based Health Campaigns Management (HCM) solution, designed to help Ministries of Health plan and execute public health campaigns. The solution streamlines frontline workflows, improves citizen access, and supports real-time data use. Deployed with a coalition of partners, HCM has supported campaigns in 6 countries since 2023, reaching over 14 million beneficiaries. eGov also convened local ecosystem actors to support sustainable adoption.
